Hello everyone!
If you don't know the fact, I embarked on the adventure of web master since January 2009.
During 2009 to mid 2010, I have only a wordpress.com blog. At that time I was very new to web development. I don't even know much about HTML, nor about scripts.
Before mid 2010, I was not really interested in web development, so the wordpress.com blog was not updated quite often, with a gap from the first post and the second post of nearly 8 months, with my second post in the blog arrived around August 2009, and the third one around November 2009.
From then, my blog update frequency starts to increase, as I learn more about the structure of the platform and how to use it.
My web master experience began to brightened around Q3 of 2010, where I set up my own forum and my fully working website. From that point on, I was more devoted to web development.
Before the end of January 2011, I was using Webs as my starting point. The features was pretty limited, since I know the greatness of PHP and Mysql and the fact that all blogs, forums, wikis and CMS are run using a PHP script.
After the year 9 residential trip, I decided to do something in order to meet my need; so I registered with a webhost called 'x10hosting'.
From that point on until today, I learned many things, including how to backup files and databases, the resource usage limitation of a webserver, and the pain of recovering from accidents/disasters.
Actually, my goal was to have a fully personalized web server of my own, without any rules enforcing on me. That's right, I have to set up my own web server. But that is not possible yet due to the high cost and resource requirements that is beyond my reach. Setting up a web server also requires a person with 24/7 uptime availability. That means that the person that can do this is the one that always left the computer on, day and night, and don't do anything else but working on the web server.
Being a web master also requires that more time is spent working on my site, which is difficult for me as I was interrupted by real-life events(schooling, holidays and etc).
Although I may realize that I started this journey too early, but it's too late to revert anything back; and I don't want to dropped halfway through!
So now I am doing my best to keep the web master world and the real world in sink at the same time.
But the future will be challenging. As I study higher, that means that less time may have to be spent on web development, and that will make the sinkrinization between the 2 worlds more difficult, but I will strive to do my best! Yes! All web masters in the world are to strive not to give up no matter what!
Having a fully customized web server is all web masters' goal! I will strive to get there along with other web masters!
For new web masters that are struggling, keep on going! Yes, learning PHP is hard, learning HTML is hard, learning scripts is hard, learning CPanel is hard, learning Crons is hard, and learning Java is hard. Just try the best that you can!
